The Traveling Women: Books and Tea is temporarily closed to new members. Our coffers are quite full and we've been seeing waitlists get longer and longer for our book discussions. No worries! Please check back in about a month or two. As a group of Traveling Women, we tend to move around alot and spaces are apt to open up.

If you are interested in coordinating this event and/or already are coordinating it via another site such as Facebook please contact me and I will make you a MeetUp organizer immediately. Thanks! The Boston Tea Party was an act of direct protest by American Colonists demanding representation in the British Government. They became known as the original patriots. The Washington DC Tea Party of 2009 and Tea Parties all across America will reinvigorate that American and Patriotic spirit; one t …

Are you frustrated with an out of control government? Do you feel like you're the only one waiving a red flag and nobody's listening? Come join us once a month at a local bar for a beer and an opportunity for you to vent your frustrations and meet like minded people. You don't have to be an official Tea Party or 912 member. I believe it's important for us to establish a face to face local like minded community NOW to help all of us face the music in what's most likely to come in the near future. …

The Potomac Tea and Knife Society is a local gaming group which focuses mostly on organizing Diplomacy games. Generally, we have Diplomacy games about once a month (though Diplomacy is definitely not the only game we play and enjoy during these get-togethers). We are located all throughout Washington DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia. Any and all interested players are welcome and invited! Whether you are an old hand looking to get into a game, or just interested in learning how to play, …
I love to read books, but often feel the need to share them with others. Since, I live in a very liberal area - I thought I would start a book club for those of us conservatives who are reading the same books and would like to discuss them. Although, I am not a 912er, I would welcome any members or anyone who is interested in reading and discussing conservative books. I am open to suggestions on books. I just read a book recommended by Glenn Beck, written by Andy Andrews called "How to Kill 11 M …
"There are other Republicans in Alexandria??" Yes!! And there has never been a more important time to be a Republican -- to stand up to this overtly liberal Congress and Administration and work to take back our country. The AYRs are dedicated to turning back the tide of liberal opportunism that seeks to erode our nation's foundation. Comprised of Republicans between the ages of 18 and 40 (but lots of associate members stick around after 40), we are the largest YR organization in the Common …
This is a group for board game players who like to share a few drinks while meeting other people and playing a few games. I'm interested in incorporating ALL types of board games and even card games into this group, so don't hesitate to suggest something you'd like to play. It is my sincere hope that this can be a relaxed and non-competitive environment where newcomers and game masters can enjoy playing together and even teach each other some new tricks and skills. Don't be intimidated if you' …
Instead of England's early Sunday dinner, a postchurch ordeal of heavy meats and savory pies, why not a new meal, served around noon, that starts with tea or coffee, marmalade and other breakfast fixtures before moving along to the heavier fare? By eliminating the need to get up early on Sunday, brunch would make life brighter for Saturday-night carousers. It would promote human happiness in other ways as well. Brunch is cheerful, sociable and inciting. It is talk-compelling. It puts you in a go …
In 2009, after looking for a group in the Fairfax City area for sewers/knitters/quilters, etc. and not finding one quite close enough, I figured why not start one? Our group is for people looking to stitch with a group to complete all those projects we've started and not completed, and to gain inspiration from others on new projects. Our group is very diverse in experience level, age, and craft. I think that has led to the most fun! No two meet ups are ever the same.
There are so many great books out there to aid in spiritual development. I've been reading many and would love to have a group to discuss it all with. For now, I'll have meetups at my home with tea provided. I imagine this as a growing, changing group with books discussed together and depending on what everyone wants, a short meditation. We'll meet in Del Ray.
I am starting this group for all those that love to knit and want to meet up on a REGULAR basis. Truth be told...I'm doing this to make myself finish projects. I'm a knitting "starter" and need to finish the multiple projects that I have started over the years! So if you are a starter, finisher, new to knitting or have been knitting for years, join us! Location: St. Elmo's Coffee Pub Or Panera Bread 2300 Mt. Vernon Ave. Duke St. at Alexandria Commons Shopping Center Alexandria,VA 2230 …

Zen Buddhism is becoming very popular in the US due to it very direct, upfront and empirical approach to understanding Buddhism and how it can benefit us. Zen attracts many different people, from all walks of life, because of its non-dogmatic, yet simple way it teaches the dharma through meditation and discussion. Fairfax lacks and formal Zen Center or Zendo, and I see that there is more than enough interest to found a small, friendly and informal Zen meditation and discussion group. The group w …
